The WMBA Foundation has announced that it will be awarding two subsidies for the 2012-2013 season. The subsidies will include an individual player subsidy available for athletes competing in the Rising Stars League as well as a Community Club subsidy aimed at aiding new or existing WMBA community clubs with equipment costs, etc. The WMBA Foundation has also announced that it will be awarding two scholarships to provide financial assistance to boys and girls graduating from high school. The awards are geared towards those who have plans to further their education in college or university and intend on pursuing excellence in playing, refereeing, convening or coaching basketball. The award will aim to recognize those who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment to basketball and have been an ambassador for the WMBA by promoting the league in the community.
