A two-time provincial champion is set to join the University of Winnipeg’s Men’s Basketball Program. Head coach Mike Raimbault has announced that Tynan Reyes of the Garden City Fighting Gophers has committed to joining the Wesmen for the start of the 2013-2014 Canada West season.  Reyes played a vital role in helping the Fighting Gophers win back to back Provincial AAAA High School Basketball Championships (2011-12, 2012-13) and was named the Most Valuable Player at this year’s championship in March. The 6’6” post averaged 26 points ,14 rebounds per game while connecting on 57% of his shots from the field this past season He was a member of the Fighting Gophers squad that captured consecutive Wesmen Classic High School titles (2011, 2012) and was named the Most Valuable Player at the 46th Annual Wesmen Classic this past December. Reyes was also named the MVP of the Brandon Sun Spartan Invitational Tournament and was ranked as the #2 High School Player in the Annual Winnipeg Sun Coaches Poll.

He has proven that he can perform under pressure and in big games. This is an integral addition to the future of Wesmen basketball”, said Wesmen Head coach Mike Raimbault.






 


 


A dedicated student-athlete, Reyes will graduate from Garden City in June and will be striving for a degree in Arts at the University of Winnipeg.
